Weekend Writing Courses - £175

10am - 5pm Saturday; 10am - 4pm Sunday

 

My courses are unique in that numbers are limited to a maximum of 8 to allow us to explore, in depth, the story you are developing and your own unique voice.  Work can be submitted in advance for group disussion and constructive feedback to enable each writer to realise their intention. We discuss structure, plot, character, dialogue and editing, focusing on those areas that are relevant to the writers participating.  Some writers return regulary with work in progress while others dip in and out. There's always a mixture of new writers and regulars on each course. For some writing is a hobby, for others it is a vocation or a profession. Some are beginners and some professionals., what we all share is a love of story and the quality of feedback is high.

The price includes copious quantities of coffee and a variety of teas and cake. 

 

There are a number of excellent pubs and cafes providing lunch in the town centre.  Courses are structured with a longer break over lunch on Saturday, to allow plenty of time to explore the town, should you wish to do so.  Alternatively, you may choose to remain at The Reading Room to write or read.  You are welcome to use the kitchen facilities to prepare your lunch.  There is an excellent selection of books for you to browse and borrow over the weekend.

 

On Saturday evening I book an evening meal at a local pub, at a reasonable price, which all are welcome to attend. 

 

 

Pay What You Can Scheme

 

If, for whatever reason, the fee is prohibitive, there are places available on a Pay What You Can basis. Simply e-mail me with your suggested contribution. No questions asked.

Accessibility

The Reading Room is situated on the first floor, with access via staircase with a handrail.  Toilet facilities and kitchen are on the same floor.

Accommodation

 

Ulverston offers a range of good quality accommodation at a reasonable price. There are a number of excellent B&Bs, pubs with rooms and self catering accommodation as well as a Premier Inn.
