Quicksand is a story of forbidden love, played out on the treacherous sands of Morecambe Bay. It tells the story of Elka, a mysterious young Polish woman, who arrives in the market town of Ulverston determined on a course of action, but her plans are undermined when she falls in love. Leo is the son of a local Polish business woman, who is the landlady of the overcrowded rental property Elka is living in. Embarrassed to admit this fact, Leo tells Elka his name is Daniel. When his real identity is revealed the consequences are far greater and more devastating than anyone might have imagined.
